Australian Guns N’ Roses fans may want to start saving up for concert tickets.
Reports out of Melbourne show that there’s a billboard in the city advertising a GNR concert at the Melbourne Cricket Ground venue, scheduled for next Feb. 14. Though nothing has been officially confirmed at this point by the band’s representatives or local ticketing agencies, it seems safe to assume that either the show is really happening or someone’s just pulled off a very strange and expensive prank.
The Australian tour reports come several weeks after production manager Dale “Opie” Skjerseth revealed that as far as he knows, there’s “no end date” for the band’s current Not in This Lifetime run, which returns guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan to the fold after decades out of the lineup. “Everybody’s working together to keep a common goal,” said Skjerseth. “Keep the machine going.”
Those sentiments were echoed more recently by Myles Kennedy, the siinger for Slash’s band the Conspirators. “It’s going so well,” he said in response to the question of whether Slash had any plans to get his solo career back in gear. “So I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon.”
An official announcement regarding the Australian dates is reportedly expected later this week. As TheMusic.com.au notes, if the group does end up heading Down Under, it’ll mark the first time Slash and McKagan have performed in the region with frontman Axl Rose since the early ’90s.
